Data Analysis & Graphing

In Seventh Grade

In seventh grade, students solved problems related to bar graphs, dot plots, and circle graphs. Circle graphs were new to seventh grade. Comparisons of dot plots and box plots using shapes, center, and spreads were represented numerically. Students also took random samples from two populations and used the data to make comparisons of two populations by making inferences.

In Eighth Grade

Students in eighth grade will use bivariate data sets to compare and contrast linear and non-linear relationships. Students are introduced to trend lines and mean absolute deviation.
