Relationships Between Sets of Numbers
T.i.P.S.
The student will need to identify the relationship between different types of numbers using a visual representation such as a Venn diagram and explain the relationship between the different number systems: real numbers, rational numbers, irrational numbers, integers, whole numbers, and natural numbers.
Example
Draw a Venn diagram which correctly represents the relationship between Set W, Set R and Set I, then place the numbers 5, -3, 0.3 ̅ ½, 0, π, √5 and -3/4.

Supporting Standard8.2 Number and operations. The student applies mathematical process standards to represent and use real numbersreal numbers in a variety of forms. The student is expected to:
(A) extend previous knowledge of sets and subsets using a visual representation to describe relationships between sets of real numbers
