Students must be able to collect, sort, and organize up to three categories of data, the information that is collected about people, events, or objects. Students must be able to record and represent the data with models such as tally marks or T-charts and use the information to solve problems.

Example


Each picture represents one animal that Steven saw on the way to school. Sort the pictures on your own paper and organize the data by type of animal. Tell how many animals Steven saw on the way to school.
