T.I.P.S.
Students must be able to round whole numbers to a specified place value. They must be able to display, explain, and justify mathematical ideas and arguments using precise mathematical language in written or oral communication.
Example
Devonte and Tanisha cannot agree on which one of them has correctly rounded 985,636,050 to the nearest thousand. Devonte believes his answer of 986,000,000 is correct, while Tanisha believes her answer of 985,600,000 is correct. The truth is that neither answer is correct. What is the correct answer, and why is it correct?
