Two-dimensional Shapes
T.I.P.S.
Students must be able to identify two-dimensional shapes, including circles, triangles, and rectangles. They must be able to see that a square is a special rectangle. Students should be able to identify two-dimensional shapes by the number of vertices and edges the shapes may have. Students should realize that the identity of the shape is not changed by its orientation, size, color, or texture.
Example
In the shapes shown below, identify the number of triangles, circles, and rectangles.

TEKS
K.6 Geometry and measurement. The student applies mathematical process standards to analyze attributes of two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional solids to develop generalizations about their properties. The student is expected to:
(A) identify two-dimensional shapes, including circles, triangles, rectangles, and squares as special rectangles
