Data Analysis & Graphing

In First Grade

Previously in first grade students collected, sorted, and organized data up to three categories, and used this data to create picture and bar-type graphs. Students drew conclusions and generated questions and answers from these graphs.

In Second Grade

Second grade students write and solve one-step addition and subtraction word problems using data represented in pictographs and bar graphs as well as expand the sorting of data up to four categories. Students continue to draw conclusion from pictographs and bar graphs and make predictions from these graphs.

In Third Grade

In third grade, students will summarize data with multiple categories, solve one- and two-step problems using a frequency table, dot plot, pictograph, and a bar graph.
