Determining & Estimating Lengths in a Problem
T.I.P.S.
Students need to solve real-life problems involving estimating and measuring length. Real-life problems may include the actual measuring of objects, finding the difference between already measured objects, or finding the total length of multiple objects or distances.
Example
Frankie measured his forearm with a yardstick and recorded the length as 15 inches. Then, he measured his upper arm and realized it’s the same length.
a) About how long is one of Frankie’s arms?
b) What is the total length of both of Frankie’s arms?
