Determine if Values Make One-Variable One-Step Equations or Inequalities True

For this standard, students have to determine if a given value or values will make equations and inequalities true. To do this, students will simply use the given equation or inequality and substitute the given value into it. For example, if the equation is4x = 32 and they are given the value of 9, students would simply substitute the 9 in place of x. So, is 4 ● 9 = 32 a true equation? The answer here is NO. Students should practice with rational numbers, so given values may include decimals and fractions as well.
