Equivalent Expressions using Properties of Operations

T.i.P.S.

Lightbulb
For this standard, students are generating equivalent expressions, but using the properties of operations to do so. There are specific properties listed, as seen above in the TEKS. Students must understand each property, how to use it correctly, and which operations it applies to. The result of these problem situations will be an expression, not a simple numerical answer.

Example

Write an equivalent expression for 3 (22 + 54 – 7).
