T.I.P.S.

  • Lightbulb Students should be able to create a real-world problem situation (word problem) from a given number sentence that involves adding and subtracting two- and three-digit numbers. They must be able to model, solve their problem, and be able to explain their thinking on how they solved it.

  • You will need paper and pencil to complete the following questions. 
     
    a)  Create a problem situation (word problem) for the following number sentence.

                        477 + 118 - 129 = ?

    b)  Model your problem using a strip diagram, explain how you found your solution, and explain your thinking.
