Students must be able to solve problems that require units of measure to be converted from metric units to metric units or customary units to customary units.
Example
On August 20, 2015, Washington Nationals center fielder Michael Taylor hit a home run a little more than 492 feet. How many yards did Taylor’s home run travel?
5.7 Geometry and measurement. The student applies mathematical process standards to select appropriate units, strategies, and tools to solve problems involving measurement. The student is expected to:
solve problems by calculating conversions within a measurement system, customary or metric.
