In Kindergarten

  • Previously in Kindergarten, students gave examples of measurable attributes of a given object related to length, capacity, and weight.

In First Grade

  • First grade students measure the length of an object to the nearest whole unit and number. Students also measure length by using two different units of length such as an inch and a centimeter.

Time to the hour and half-hour using analog and digital clocks is also learned.

In Second Grade

  • Students in second grade will determine solutions to a problem involving length, and find the length of an object to the nearest unit using meter sticks, measuring tapes, yardsticks, or rulers.

The concept of area is first explored in second grade as well as the concept of telling time to the minute using analog and digital clocks.
